Prince Harry has had a rollercoaster of a relationship with William and King Charles ever since the Duke left the royals and went overseas to live in LA with his wife, Meghan.
As many hope for a reconciliation between the pair, Prince Harry actually detailed a time after his grandfather’s funeral when he asked his brother and father to meet to ‘sort things out.’
Prince Harry’s meeting with William and Charles got ‘heated’
In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry opened up about his meeting with his brother Prince William, and father King Charles to try and ‘make amends’, sort things out, and speak about their fighting.
The meeting took place after Prince Phillip’s funeral in 2022, two years after Meghan Markle and Harry left the royals.
As the trio “got down to business,” the 39-year-old expressed how he was feeling nervous and trying to keep his “emotions in check.” He also expressed that he vowed to not let this encounter devolve into another argument.”
However, he claimed they had come “ready to fight.” Harry claimed that either his brother or father would ‘cut him off’ every time he ventured a new explanation, and things got extra heated with his brother.
“Willy in particular didn’t want to hear anything,” the Duke expressed. “After he shut me down several times, he and I began sniping saying some of the same things we’d said for months – years.”
The 39-year-old explained how it reportedly got so heated between the two that ‘Pa’ raised his hands, shouting “Enough!”
Charles ‘begged’ his sons to not make his ‘final years’ a misery
As he told his sons to stop, the King, who was the Prince of Wales at the time, allegedly begged: “Please boys – don’t make my final years a misery.”
In that moment, Harry claimed his father’s voice sounded raspy, fragile and old.” It was at that moment, the Duke of Sussex claimed something shifted inside of him. “I took it all in.” Even the way he resembled “mummy” Princess Diana, which he says was fading with age.
“In some ways, he was my mirror, in some ways, he was my opposite. My beloved brother, my arch nemesis, how had that happened?” he questioned in his book.
Harry then revealed he “wanted to go home” and had realized what a “complicated concept home had become.”
As of the present, the three have been seen together publically at Queen Elizabeth II‘s funeral and King Charles’ coronation.
Harry also visited the UK recently, however, it is said that he ‘snubbed’ King Charles’ offer to visit him and Queen Consort Camilla at Balmoral, as his tight busy schedule wouldn’t allow it.
Prince William also visited the US recently, however, it is thought he didn’t see his brother whilst on his short trip.
Prince Harry’s Spare came out in January 2023. The royals, any individuals or Buckingham Palace, have not publically responded to any claims from the book.
