Faith Brown“I can’t lie: A pair of Carhartt pants isn’t something I would naturally gravitate to on a normal basis, so when it came time to style them, I tried to think of incorporating elements that felt very me. I ended up borrowing an oversize leopard-print shacket from Kith from my husband’s side of the closet, and paired it with my go-to knee-high boots from Maguire, a black Skims T-shirt, and my favorite gold hoops from Mexican jeweler Georgina Trevino. In the future, I could also see myself trying them with an oversize vintage tee, chunky boots, and a denim trench coat.”

Faith Brown“My personal style typically leans more preppy and frilly, as opposed to rustic and functional, but I really enjoyed embracing the workwear aesthetic of these Carhartt pants. They’re comfy and versatile, and I actually tried them a few different ways before settling on my final look. I let them pool around my platform Fila Disruptors, while up top, I wore a thrifted gray turtleneck—which easily tucked into the bottoms. I layered a shaggy brown vest on top that I stole from my mother. Finally, for a playful touch, I grabbed a Maryam Keyhani hat from the Bazaar fashion closet, which ended up perfectly coordinating with the color of the pants. (I just couldn’t help myself from adding a touch of femininity to the look.) I’m excited to try styling these pants again in the future, and seeing how the trending streetwear can add a twist to my other fits.”

Faith Brown“I’ve been spying the cool Pratt kids near me wearing Carhartts for a while, which made me want them and also doubt that I could pull them off. But here is my attempt. I like a looser fit, so I’m wearing them a size bigger than I normally wear, and I like how they sit on my hips and how comfortable they are. Camel and red is one of my favorite color combinations, so I wore them with this vintage cherry-red cardigan (search vintage Scottish cashmere cardigan on Etsy, or J.Crew always has a good one), and to make them feel less casual for a workday, I cuffed them and paired them with these white Le Monde Béryl flats, which have the effect of making every outfit I own look a bit chicer."

Faith Brown“The best part about the fashion and workwear mashup for me is explaining to my boyfriend—who works in construction—why everyone is suddenly complimenting the dirty Carhartt jacket he’s been wearing to work for years. Faith Brown“For me, Carhartt pants and jackets always conjured very specific sartorial archetypes. I thought they were reserved for hot, greasy, Supreme-loving skater boys in Dimes Square, or Brooklyn moms who owned fixer-uppers in the Hudson Valley decorated with Noguchi lamps and Eames chairs. It wasn’t until recently that I realized that, despite their mass rise in popularity over the last couple of years, Carhartt pants in particular were pretty versatile; and that, lo and behold, I—someone who is not nearly as cool or unassumingly discerning as those downtown kids or Park Slope moms—could pull them off. I tried on the classic pair and instantly knew I was hooked. I styled them with a vintage Nina Ricci top (though they’d look great with this one from Acne Studios too!) and Dries Van Noten heels.”
